Researcher Roles
Research Intern - Level 1 - A research internship is defined as an agreed position with an external Research End User (REU) organization when a student enrolled at DMVRIF undertakes research and development (R&D) activities related to their area of research in their higher degree by research (HDR) studies for a minimum of 60 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) business days over at least three calendar months until twelve calendar months. At DMVRIF, the selection for this role is based on the candidate's interest, followed by an interview.
Research Scholar - Level 2 - A research scholar is a person who conducts in-depth research and investigations in a specific field of knowledge. They are usually college students or graduates who work for a university or organization on projects related to their field of study. Research scholars often work with professors and other professionals to discover new information that can be published in academic journals. Research scholars typically have advanced degrees and are dedicated to expanding the world's understanding through their research. At DMVRIF, the minimum eligibility is a keen research interest; selection will be made on an interview and screening basis.
Assistant Researcher - Level 3 - A research assistant (RA) is a person who helps researchers with their work, often on a temporary contract. Their responsibilities can vary depending on the project and the industry, but they typically include conducting research: collecting data, conducting experiments, and analyzing data. Supporting the research team: preparing interview questions, summarizing findings, and managing data, Presenting findings; Creating research reports, presentations, and visuals to share with the research team, Planning and coordinating: Planning research projects and coordinating roles within the project, Maintaining equipment: Maintaining laboratory equipment and testing new tools and methods, Communicating with sponsors: Corresponding with research sponsors to share progress and findings. RAs are often students who are enrolled in a degree program or pursuing a PhD. They can work for universities, research institutes, or private organizations. RAs can gain experience and skills through their role, which can help them progress to more senior roles. Affiliated Researcher - Level 4 - An affiliate researcher is a professional who works on research projects with academic institutions or research organizations. They may be university faculty, post-doctoral fellows, or non-university researchers. Their responsibilities include conducting research, analyzing data, presenting research results, supervising students, training students in various techniques, contributing to grant applications, publishing findings in peer-reviewed papers, presenting research at symposiums, and lab maintenance and management. They may use skills such as working with FTIR, nanoparticles, and stem cells. Affiliate researcher positions are not usually intended to be long-term or indefinite. Associate Researcher - Level 5 - A research associate is a professional who conducts research, analyses data and interprets findings to support research efforts. They may work independently or as part of a team and can be employed by universities, research institutions, or private companies. Research associates can have a variety of responsibilities, including designing and conducting experiments, analysing data, writing reports, presenting findings, overseeing the work of other research staff, and developing and interpreting information to assist management with decision-making. Collecting and analysing data and developing decision support software, services, or products, Contributing to the development of new theories or technologies and monitoring and documenting laboratory sample storage and shipment, Research associates can work in many industries, including healthcare, biotechnology, education, social sciences, academia, industry, and government. Research associates can be entry-level, mid-level, or senior-level, depending on their experience and education qualifications. At DMVRIF, for this role, the minimum eligibility is five publications in any peer-reviewed journal.
Research Scientist - Level 6 - Research scientists plan and lead experiments and investigations on a range of study/research topics. At DMVRIF, for this role, the minimum eligibility is seven or more publications in any peer-reviewed journal.
Mentor & Guide, Administrator Roles
Assistant Research Director - Level 7 - Assists the Associate Research Director or other appropriate administrator in the research management of one or more aspects of a sponsored programs unit and/or function. This position is generally responsible for the research management of a segment of a sponsored programs department or a major function. Assists in the analysis of the effectiveness of and establishes future direction for functional policies and programs. The primary duty is the management of other managers, professionals, and support staff. This position reports to a vice president, assistant/associate vice president, director, or other appropriate administrator. This position may not report to another Assistant Director. At DMVRIF, for this role, the minimum eligibility is ten or more publications in any peer-reviewed journal. The selection is based on a nomination followed by an interview with board member/s.
Associate Research Director - Level 8 - Assists the Additional Research Director or other appropriate administrator in the overall research management and administrative direction of all aspects of a sponsored programs unit and/or function. This position is generally responsible for the management of a department or major function. Assists in the analysis of the effectiveness of and establishes future direction for functional policies and programs. Responsible for the oversight and direction of pre- and post-award management, compliance, budgeting, and evaluation of research programs and processes. The primary duty is the management of other managers, professionals, and support staff. This position reports to a vice president, assistant/associate vice president, director, or other appropriate administrator. This position may not report to another Associate Director. At DMVRIF, for this role, the minimum eligibility is twenty-five or more publications in any peer-reviewed journal or based on performance as a guide or mentor for a minimum of fifty populations, whichever is higher. Additional Research Director - Level 9 - A research director is a senior-level professional who manages research projects, teams, and budgets. They are responsible for ensuring that research is conducted in compliance with ethical standards and regulations. They also work closely with other departments to ensure that research findings are relevant and actionable. Some of the responsibilities of a research director include overseeing the design, execution, and dissemination of research projects, Leading teams of researchers, analysts, and consultants, developing research strategies and proposing new research initiatives, analyzing research data and presenting findings to senior management and other stakeholders. At DMVRIF, for this role, the minimum eligibility is fifty or more publications in any peer-reviewed journal or based on performance as a guide or mentor for a minimum of a hundred populations, whichever is higher. Deputy Director - Level 10 - A deputy director is a second-in-command role in DMVRIF, such as a business or government department. They are responsible for managing the administrative and operational activities of a major division. Responsibilities: Manage administrative and operational activities; appoint the department in the absence of the director. Reporting: Reports directly to the director or joint director. A deputy director is a senior-level manager who supports the director of an organization. In an international education institute, a deputy director's roles and responsibilities include Overseeing operations: The deputy director manages the day-to-day operations of the organization. Managing staff: The deputy director is responsible for managing the staff of the organization. Creating and implementing policies: The deputy director creates and implements policies for the organization. Ensuring goals are met: The deputy director ensures that the organization meets its goals and objectives. Stepping in for the director: The deputy director steps in for the director when needed. Ensuring departmental goals align: The deputy director ensures that departmental goals align with the organization's mission.
